A Flup is a hostile Mob found in the Shipwrecked DLC. It lives in the Tidal Marsh biome. Flup can be seen as the Shipwrecked counterpart of the Tentacles. A Flup will hide in the mud and wait for a creature or the player to come along before jumping out and striking. If one looks closely, they can see the eye of a Flup sticking out from the ground, or bubbles indicating their presence. Flups will attack by lashing their tongue out.

Flups can easily catch unsuspecting new players off guard and likely kill them if they are not prepared for a random attack.

Unlike Tentacles, new Flups will spawn in the Tidal Marshes, if the Marsh doesn't already contain too many of them. The limit of Flups vary for each Marsh. In each Marsh with enough space, a new Flup will spawn every 3 to 4 days. Flups can only spawn on Tidal Marsh Turf, and removing it or replacing it with another Turf will prevent new Flups from spawning on that tile.

Spear.png Fighting Strategy[edit | edit source]

Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Flup when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain is not included due to the random nature of its projectile.

It takes 1 blast to freeze a Flup with an Ice Staff and it takes 1 Sleep Dart to put it to sleep.

Placeholder.png Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Flups may be based on real life mudskippers, amphibious fishes that live in tropical regions and can also live on land. Their appearance also resembles anglerfishes, fishes that have a protrusion on their head. Their third eye appears to be quite similar to a Periscope, which is commonly used on submarines to search for threats while submerged.
